Welcome to Antrim Coast Cottage
Welcome to our Home - Message from the Owner
Known as "The Wee House", this lovely terraced cottage just outside the seaside town of Whitehead nestles among four other traditional cottages close to the peninsula of Islandmagee.
Purchased by my parents in 1970, the cottage holds many happy memories and has been enjoyed by three generations of our family. My husband and I have lovingly restored and modernised the cottage and restoration works
were completed in April 2011. Whilst adding modern appliances to make your stay as comfortable as possible, we have also endeavoured to remain sympathetic and true to the many original features within the cottage and have been awarded 3 stars by Northern Ireland Tourist Board.
Enter into a charming sitting room with a welcoming fire. Open plan kitchen, dining and utility area with sunroof, french doors opening onto a sunny garden with a patio and decked area. The garden is surrounded with tall hedges on either side making it a lovely private retreat. This year we have added a large dining table and garden chairs to the patio area as suggested by a recent visitor. Off road parking is available in the courtyard at the front of the property.
I can recommend taking a walk from the cottage up McCrae's Brae opposite, on your left you will pass Whitehead Golf club, the road leads to the lighthouse with some stunning views along the way to the famous Victorian Gobbins coastal path to the nearby harbour in Whitehead which is edged with colourful buildings. At this point, the walk is rewarded with an "Ulster Fry" in one of the many cafes in Whitehead before strolling home. A great touring base for both Eastern and Northern coasts of Northern Ireland and the scenic Antrim Coastal drive to Giant's Causeway.
